Late summer is already transitioning into early autumn. Likely due to the level of drought stress along with several nights that were well bellow freezing during the previous weather week. We started out seriously smokey which fortunately let up and only returned less intensely.

Smoke out on Thursday was way beyond beyond! Silverton simply went Poof! Gone in a cloud of smoke by late afternoon. We were at 247 according to Purple Air. We had the worst recorded air quality for any of their sites in Colorado.

Following a week of 6 days in the 80s, we are really grateful to have had 6 out of 7 in the low to mid 70s! We have also experienced 6 out of 7 in the low to mid 70s for highs, with many afternoons and mornings far cooler. Rainfall has been sporadic, with only .10 in the can for this week.

We really turned up the heat this weather week! Last week seemed plenty hot by Silverton standardsbut nothing like this! Add a 4000acre wildfire blowup early evening on Thursday in the La Salles, pumping huge amounts of smoke into our realm early evening.

Tropical storm Alvin brought somewhere between 1.27 inches, which Freddie officially measured, and possibly close to two inches that other people measured to Silverton at the beginning of June. Nothing measurably significant since then. Here we are with the Fourth of July on Friday.
