Pacific tropical Storm Alvin cooled us down and brought much needed moisture to the high San Juans along with the desert southwest over the weekend. Temperatures prior to this event were in the upper mid-sixties and then even seventies- which really seems like summer to us mountain folks!

Springtime in the Rockies was blown right out of our strange realm mid-morning on Wednesday. We went from 51.4 to mid 30's in the blink of an eye with snow and wind roaring horizontal up canyon!

To the Editor: I am writing to express concern over the stalled allocation of market rate lots in the Anvil Mountain Subdivision and to urge San Juan County Commissioners to honor the existing wait list and move forward with awarding the available undeveloped lots to those on it.

February began with snow and ended accordingly. No thaw prior to the last day of January, and the next week long plus muddy water even continued into March 2nd.

Editor Dear Editor, While visiting Silverton for the weekend(14-17Feb) to enjoy the area and watch the Skijoring. (Amazing by the way) We checked into the Grand Imperial late afternoon and was fortunate that the handicapped spot was available out front.

What a wet week followed by a nearly dry week. Wednesday morning, we had four inches of snow with 100th of an inch for water content. Lots of blue sky - more days than not. This made for only Tuesday being below freezing.
