O ur February saw got a jump start on the calendar on January 31st. From then through the 7th of February, we experienced two days in the 50s and six more in the mid-40s. Nights have been mostly in the mid-teens unless we are thoroughly overcast - which made for two nights 10° warmer.

Editor Editor, You might not know this about me, but I love puzzles. I have a large puzzle board that we keep on the kitchen table to work on over coffee, and we spend (sometimes) months working on.

Dear Editor, One of our Silverton feral kitty residents has been at Riverview Animal Hospital in Durango since Sunday. As I write this he’s still undergoing treatment for a megacolon. So far his bill is almost $3000. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

Arctic January

Twenty nine consecutive days below zero is the longest arctic air stretch that your correspondent can recall up here in the polar hamlet. That has been our reality since the last two days of December. So far, all of us mountain folk are holding up surprisingly well.

Reach Out!

We have now experienced 22 days, which were below zero in succession. We are not nearly out of the deep freeze quite yet! Even so, we have seen two days which reached above 40 this January, and there just might could be some more - so take heart!

Deep Freeze!

The second weather week of this new year was nothing but polar hamlet frigid - to the max! No, your correspondent didn't observe or record 40 below or better. That he will have to patiently await.
