Phinneaus, AKA Phinn, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Phinneaus was an Australian Shepard who moved to Silverton when he was six months old and he lived here for the remaining 15 years of his beautiful life. For anyone who got to know Phinn, he was equal parts regal and gentle; boisterous and patient; physically powerful and yet he was content to just cuddle and let his mama and baby burrow in his gorgeous fur. He had a majestic color pattern: a white ghost on his chest, and a white heart on his butt. He had big ears and paws, soft as velvet.
Phinn spent countless hours frolicking in these gorgeous mountains and rivers, and his spirit coalesced with winter. Phinn was the ultimate adventure partner: biking, skiing, swimming, camping, hiking, climbing, and rafting. He was a super athlete at the game of fetching tennis balls.
He was a part of our life’s milestones, including building a home in Silverton and welcoming home our baby, Soreya. Phinneaus’s message was one of peace, wisdom, and unconditional love. A soul mate and best friend, Phinneaus was always our “home” and he will be missed forever. Our beloved Phinn is survived by his family: Marc Kloster, Katie Shapiro, and Soreya Kloster (1). This most precious being now lives on in the stars. Thank you Phinneaus for all of your love, loyalty, and companionship. We will remember you and honor you in the way we continue to love you and while we retrace the footsteps we took together. We truly were the lucky ones. We love you to the sun, moon, and stars, and back again.
