Our beloved Diesel Dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Friday August 15th at 1:29pm in the afternoon. Diesel had a life full of family, friends, dog packs, travel and adventures that most dogs don’t get a chance to do. I have always said that Diesel Dog had more first-class flights across the country than most ever will. She spent her winter months here in Silverton mostly with her doggy siblings Ruger, Cozy and her kitten Lucias. She spent her summer months on the shores of Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire where she was when she passed away peacefully with her Dad David Breed, Maddie, her human sister’s Astrid and Ella on their beach. Ruger and I were able to be on Facetime with her during the whole process and when I spoke to her, she smiled and looked into the phone, she knew we were there. “Pet” doesn’t describe what Diesel meant to so many of us, including Bruce Conrad, who helped raise her like I did. She came over the hill from Telluride over a decade ago and for me, it was love at first sight. She became my dog as well because I helped raise her and loved her more than she could ever know, or did she know? We have bonds with our beloved animals in our lives that are indescribable, unbreakable and the undeniably deep connection exists forever. Diesel Dog had a wisdom that those who met her instantly knew. She could command a dog pack whether her own or strange with a look, a stance and one flash of a tooth though never bite nor rarely barked. She did bark demandingly when she wanted her dog pack to get a treat, dinner or a walk.

She was one bossy gal. Diesel Dog lived her best mountain life here in Silverton and her most amazing lake life in New Hampshire. She has people who love her strewn across the country and she will be and already is deeply missed. With love, DeAnne Gallegos, Ruger & Cozy
