Gregory Max Gallegos

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Max Gallegos, who “returned to the house of the father “ on January 14, 2025.

Cherished son of Bob and Betty Gallegos, Greg’s deep and abiding love for his family, friends, and his beloved hometown of Silverton will be eternally remembered.

A 1995 graduate of Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, Greg earned a degree in Business and Economics. He dedicated three decades of his life to helping students achieve their dreams of higher education. Greg was the Assistant Director of financial aid at San Juan College, in Farmington, New Mexico. Greg was a valued and admired member of the college staff, known for his dedication and commitment, even working throughout his illness.

Beyond his professional life, Greg was a man of many passions. A talented guitar player, he found joy and solace in the mountains surrounding Silverton, where he we loved skiing, hunting, biking, motorcycle riding, and hiking with his brothers and friends. He held a deep reverence for nature, the environment, and all its flora and fauna.

Greg is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Betty Gallegos, and his brothers, Adam and Jeremy. He leaves behind his son, Gabriel, and daughter, Cassidy, as well as four nephews. His extended family of tios, tias, primos and primas are heartbroken by his passing. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Demecio and Nellie Gallegos and Max and Lupe Samora of Silverton.

We remember Greg as courageous in his battle against kidney cancer, always exemplifying kindness and consideration for others. He modeled a life of hard work and thoughtfulness, a fun loving, genuine, good spirited, and positive son, and brother, family member, and friend.

Our beloved, sweet, precious Greg, always steadfast in his love and generosity for others, will remain forever in our hearts.

Cardinal, Kevin Joseph Farrell The family is hosting a memorial mass on July 19, at 11 AM, Saint Patricks Catholic Church in Silverton. Immediately following mass will be a luncheon for family and friends at Kendall Mountain Lodge.
