Starting to Feel Like the Summer Season

It is starting to feel like summer around here, even though we are having some typical April snow showers.Familiar faces are popping up around town, shop windows are being covered up with brown paper so shopkeepers can clean, redo, and set up their stores, and restaurants are doing the same.

25 years ago April 26, 2001Will the town of Silverton take crap from the railroad? Quite possibly. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has asked the town if it can pump its “honey wagon” — that’s a cutesy tourist term for a rolling latrine — in the town’s sewer system.

Silverton’s Town Trustees Chose Jim Harper as the New Mayor

At last Monday night’s Town of Silverton Board of Trustees regular meeting, the board discussed the vacancy of the mayor’s seat and decided unanimously to move pro-tem mayor Jim Harper into the mayor’s seat to serve out former mayor Dayna Kranker’s term until the next election in April 2028.
