It snowed and blew quite a little in Red Mountain on Sunday morning and the train was somewhat delayed. At noon several of the boys, the writer among them, concluded to walk home. They left Red Mountain at 1:10 p.m. and arrived here at 4:40 p.m.

April is Set To Be Eventful

April will be here in a few days, and Saturday is already April Fools…. Mother Nature created an event here in the San Juans this winter that was a hybrid between Groundhogs Day & April Fools. But it is no joke that April has become more eventful than in years past.

20 years ago March 28, 2003 San Juan County roads are all ATV-legal as of Wednesday night. That’s when the Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution opening all county roads to unlicensed off-highway vehicles.

Another Rowdy Round of Snowstorms

Like a never-ending groundhog’s day, last week brought Silverton and San Juan County another round of sideways snowstorms and mountain pass closures. One difference in this March storm was the amount of moisture and water in the snowpack; it felt like shoveling concrete.
