You could always find Genie on the hillside snapping pictures or standing next to the tug-o-war board with a stopwatch timing or cheering on her friends and family . She was a huge cheerleader for her family on the board and helping them work on their technique for the following day.

The pass had been closed for many years due to slides. It wasn’t until 60 years ago this summer that it was passable to motor vehicles.
