Silverton Mountain Has a Strong Start to Season

Although we have had a delay in snow so far, Silverton Mountain has had enough base to have a great start to its season, and this last snowstorm will make the skiing up there even more memorable.

The Kendall Mountain Community Center was host to another sold out show of Mountainfilm on Tour this past Saturday night. Over 110 attendees trickled in for an evening of socializing and film viewing.

From the January 19, 1900 edition of the Silverton Standard: 12TH STREET OPIUM JOINT RAIDED. A Chinese opium joint over the Saddle Rock restaurant on Twelfth street was raided Monday night by Marshal Lyle and Officer Leonard and four Chinese men were put under arrest.

Winter Finally Arrived

Winter finally arrived this past weekend, but just a little too late for the planned dog sled races on Saturday, January 13th. Due to the lack of snow before this storm, they had to reschedule this event for later in the winter when we have a better base of snow, but that date is still TBD.
