Dear Editor, I have just read the report on the recent enormous fire in New Mexico which has destroyed acres of forest and many small communities. And just read the latest Standard which announces that Silverton will go ahead with fireworks!

More Rain!

Wednesday-39,7, with a high overcast with rapid cloud build. Dark and scuddy by noon, a gentle afternoon rain with the temperature falling to 50. Thursday-45.3, with thick fog above 10k. A patchy mid mix overhead. Cloud build with rain and thunder before noon followed by a good cloud burst.

Wednesday- 30.7 degrees at 7 am. Calm and clear all up canyon breeze, with dark early mid billowing cumulous clouds late afternoon. Only a couple of rain drops, less clouds by late afternoon. 67.6 degree High Thursday- 28.2 degrees with dark mid level clouds streaming in from the Northwest.

Last week my brothers, sisters, several other relatives, and I traveled to Silverton to attend the burial of our brother and uncle, Mark Esper. We were astonished at the warm reception we received from the citizens of Silverton.
