Mr. Sun smiled on us for most of most days this weather week. We also had the closest thing to a heat wave so far in 2023. Including our current hottest day of the year on Friday at 44.7 following -13.9 before sun up. That my friends is a real diurnal swing! That is just the way it went this week.

Wednesday- negative 8.6 degrees at 7:00 AM. With nearly invisible snowflakes falling ever so lightly! Hardly our coldest day so far this year! 20.1 degree high Thursday- negative 20.8 degrees, air still in once again- we are the coldest spot in Colorado!

Wednesday 18.1 degrees at 7:00 AM with four inches measured and 0.2 inches water content. Snowing gently with lots of wind drift. Snow showers continued with occasional clearing. 27.6 degree high Thursday- negative 12.1 degrees ice fog plus diamond dust just after sunup!

Since the Gold King Mine release in 2015, USEPA has spent approximately $110 million addressing issues regarding metal discharges from mine sites around Silverton. Locally, people wonder whose is keeping track of what’s going on and providing input.

Wednesday- 7.7 degrees at 7:00 AM with a few mid-plus high cirrus moving throughout the northwest. No visible mountains up or down Canyon. Occasional sunshine just before sunset! 24 degrees high Thursday-Negative 9.1 still and peaceful. High thin overcast joined by high mids by 8:00 AM.

Wednesday- 27.5 degrees, snowing and blowing. Gradually letting up with gray clouds throughout the day. Snow showers and wind. 33.2 degree high Thursday-2.3 degrees, clear and quiet before dawn, with more powder to muck! Chilly breeze mid to late afternoon, then still. 32.

Wednesday Negative 9.6 degrees, our coldest morning this season. Still and still cold all day! There were snow plumes late afternoon on high. 36.8 degree high. Thursday-2.8 degrees, clear and calm. Gradual overcast during the afternoon. Only a light breeze 38.3 degree high. Friday- 25.
