Real People

Ever since my arrival in Silverton on the last day of summer back in 1984, I have been in awe of these mountains and the people from here and also those who are attracted to the San Juans from all over America and the world beyond. Real people. All sizes and sorts.

There has been a new addition to the Silverton Public School garden space this summer. The new 20’x40’ hoop house was built through grant funding from the Regional Green Grants administered through EcoAction Partners with funding provided by the Town of Silverton.

Past Peak Week

After the first two weekends of August, our lives begin to slow back down.Accomplishment without burnout becomes something that's time has finally arrived. We began this weather week with measurable rainfall during the first three days.

Making Good Decisions

Wind, smoke, and fire are definitely on all of our minds with no rain probable for the foreseeable future. We had any number of dry lightning strikes in western Colorado on Thursday and Friday. Those smoldered until the wind picked up on Saturday with incredible force throughout our region.

This weather week at times gave a bit of mercy in the form of verga well above mountaintops and resulting cooling in our realm.We also experienced occasional raindrops- although nothing resulting in anything measurable.
