On March 6, 2025, a natural slide occurred at approximately 11:30 am on Red Mountain Pass near the Idarado Mine.
One commercial box truck was struck by the slide. One small passenger vehicle attempted to drive through the slide, unsuccessfully. No injuries were reported.
On the same day at 2:15 pm, mitigation resulted in a snowslide, 8 to 5 ft. deep, covering an 80-ft. stretch of the highway.
