From the May 16, 1891 edition of the Silverton Standard: INMATE ESCAPES. Morgan, the man under arrested and in the county jail for forgery, made his escape on Saturday evening. He made a hole in the masonry under the window, about four feet long and eighteen inches wide. Sheriff May sent men to Durango and Ouray but nothing has been heard of him. ...
