From the January 16, 1892 edition of the Silverton Standard:
JAIL IMPROVED.
The repairs and improvements to the county jail were completed this week. The building has been lined throughout with 2x4’s and to these are bolted steel plates. A new lock has been placed on the town jail. In future it will be virtually impossible for prisoners to make their escape.
