Before the start of the summer season, the County has to work to make sure Silverton’s mountain passes are open, especially as we have attracted more OHV and Jeep tourists. The summer season usually starts in May and the passes can sometimes still have feet of snow on them. In addition, the dirt roads can be quite rough. The County works really hard in often difficult conditions.
