Wildfire on Red Mountain Pass “Human Caused”

Last Sunday, June 22nd, at around 11 am, there was a wildfire that started between mile markers 87 & 88 on Highway 550 heading North to Ouray near the snow shed.

Highwater And Hot Weather

June really heated up this weather week. We went from occasional days above 70 previously to every day being at least that hot. In fact- our four hottest days occurred in a row between Friday and Monday! Cool breezes and some precipitation either in town or upwind nearby were the saving grace.

GOCO board awards $750K grant to expand the Baker’s Park trail system near Silverton

DENVER — The Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) board awarded a $750,000 grant to San Juan County, in partnership with the Town of Silverton, to expand the Baker’s Park trail system, an envisioned 30-mile multiuse trail network half a mile from Silverton.
