Each student got a school shirt from the recent fundraiser at their holiday luncheon where generous locals and local businesses donated to the cause. The Silverton School recently revamped its school merchandise line offering T-Shirts, hats and sweatshirts.

Tom Moore Boarding House San Juan County Historical Society photo The Tom Moore boarding house above Eureka in Animas Canyon around 1902. The boarding house was hit by an avalanche in December 1908, killing Frank Mondell and damaging the furnace room. The boarding house was demolished by a second avalanche on Jan. 5, 1910 and was never rebuilt.
