Silverton Gym Space is Now Open

For a long time, the Silverton community has missed having a gym in town. With the school gym no longer being open in the same way as before, it is central to our mission to provide a gym facility to fill this void.

From the December 28, 1880 edition of the (Rico) Dolores News: RAILROAD TO REACH CHAMA BY JANUARY. The Rio Grande company will have its line extended to Chama by the 1st of January. Barlow & Sanderson will run a line of six- horse stages from the terminus to Rico and Silverton.

20 years ago December 20, 2002 Frank Baumgartner is scheduled to appear in San Juan County Court on Jan. 28 for an arraignment related to his destruction of the Kohler-Longfellow boarding house this summer.

Kendall Mountain Ski Area is OPEN

Kendall Mountain Ski Area officially opened for the winter season this Friday, Dec 16, and the lift started rolling at 11 am that morning. 9-yearold Silverton local Jayden Archuleta waited over half an hour to be the first person on the chair lift for this winter’s season.

Winter Solstice

In this high mountain valley our little town is quiet The souvenir shops are boarded up, closed for the winter, their owners and the tourists gone South down the mountain with the last train.
