We are a little late with our New Year’s edition and will come out printed in red ink next week. We have received orders for eight extra copies from Missouri and other countries. The picture of the editor, myself, will appear on the front page with full-grown whiskers and a red necktie.

Looking Back!

40 years ago February 6, 1986Bill Jones, proprietor of Root and Norton Assayers in Silverton, was named to the Silverton Chamber of Commerce board of directors Monday night. Jones, who has served on the board in the past, replaces Elijah Campis, who resigned.

Old Man Winter Has Been a No Show So Far

Old Man Winter has not arrived in Silverton or the San Juan Mountain range and only made a minor show in December of 2025.

That is the real question. None of us have the answer. We can make assumptions. We can play pretend. However, being the weather guy up here in the high San Juans is consistently humbling.Because Freddie can always hope for snow- which I do mightily.

The first annual Emberglow went off without a hitch and brought out a diverse cross-section of the Silverton community. Holly Huebner, the event organizer, said, “The first Emberglow was pure magic! Better than I could have ever expected.

Silverton’s Yeti Dunes Executive 9-hole Golf Course is open

Silverton's Yeti Dunes Executive 9 golf course is now open for play!!! With the lack of snow, we have had some unusual challenges but grab your clubs and come out and give it a try. The course starts near the old train depot and the end of 10th Street.
