Silverton is agitating a 4th of July blow-out. Snoshoe races, rowing matches, coasting and a polar bear hunt will perhaps be the principal attractions.

Griff Pinto, a local Silverton 12-year-old youth athlete, finished second place in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Race in his division this last Saturday, coming in at 3 hours and 19 minutes, beating the train from Durango to Silverton.
