The Colorado Tourism Office granted me, DeAnne Gallegos, the executive director of the Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce/Visit Silverton, a full scholarship to attend this year’s Governors’ Conference for the Colorado Tourism Office (GovCon) over three days in Crested Butte.

The Bureau of Land Management and Silverton Singletrack Society celebrated National Public Lands Day on Saturday, 9/28, with a Baker’s Park trail workday. There were 20+ people in attendance. Volunteers assisted with building fencing, installing signage, and doing hand finish work on the trail.

21 Years Ago October 2, 2003 Silverton Liquor on Greene Street suffered damage when a fire broke out at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The cause of the fire has not been officially determined.

Early Wednesday morning, a Dodge touring car driven by William Ennis of this city left the road on the D.S.O. highway at a point above the Ledge mill site, near Chattanooga. The accident was probably caused by defective steering apparatus.
