The Hardrock Hundred is celebrating our 30th running this summer! As part of our celebration, we will be inducting our inaugural class of the Hardrock Hall of Fame. This class includes many who were instrumental in creating the Hardrock Hundred or whose name has become synonymous with Hardrock.

Years Ago Editor’s note: From Feb. 3 to April 17, 1884, Silverton suffered through one of its worst snow blockades ever. The Caboose will chronicle the ordeal over the next several weeks.
The settlement at Boulder Gulch northeast of Silverton in 1876. Years layer it was temporarily platted as Lemoyne City, just south of Boulder Creek. Crested Butte Woman Fatally Buried in Avalanche Accident

On Thursday, February 20th, 2025, around 1:09 pm, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and the Silverton Medical Rescue team received a satellite emergency communications alert from a reporting party of the avalanche accident in an area locally known as “The Nose” in the Ophir Pass area.
