Mudslide Closes Red Mountain
On Monday, April 10, 2023, a mudslide closed Highway 550 at mile point 78, 7 miles north of Silverton. This is the latest of closures, but the first in 2023 caused by mud instead of snow. Teams removed the muck quickly, and the road was opened by 10:30 pm that night.
