20 Years Ago April 30, 2004 Allen Nossaman called recently to tell us he enjoyed our article on the development of mining claims. However he had one correction to the story. “There is no Aspen Town,” he said in a deep and scolding voice. He is of course correct.

Grading on the Eureka branch of the Silverton railroad was commenced this week. The work is in charge of George Logan and will be rushed through as quickly as possible. The road when completed should be of vast benefit to Eureka and the mines in that vicinity.

120 YEARS AGO From the September 12, 1903 edition of the Silverton Standard: CHAS. MOYER IS IN SILVERTON. Since the arrival of Chas. Moyer, president of the Western Federation of Miners, in Silverton last night (Thursday) the rumors have been on the increase and as conflicting as usual.

September 15th Wednesday 28.5 degrees at 7am. Cloudless early with moderate cumulus build. Chilly until close to noon. Nice cool breeze and clouds kept this day perfect with a 75 degree high. Thursday 28.4 degrees bottom out and not a cloud above. Limited build the clouds dissipated alter.

Why Should People Vote No on the Recall in the Trustees’ Words

The question voters must answer in the coming weeks is: has my work as a trustee of Silverton been valuable to the community? It’s humbling to serve from the seat of trustee. I hold tremendous respect for the position and its responsibilities.
