Starting and growing a business in an isolated community is never an easy undertaking. Silverton has proved to be no exception.

On May 23 Cokie (Berenyi) Cox summited Mount Everest. As an avid mountaineer, she has also summited Denali, Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua, among others. In so doing, she has raised funds for the Medical University of South Carolina, Hollings Cancer Center, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Much needed moisture returns to Silverton

Dear Editor, This is a call to all of you who remember and were friends with Charlie Moore. Charlie was a carpenter, builder and a deputy with our sheriff’s department. He left us several years ago, but left some fine memories.

Getting Greener

Wednesday 26.2 degrees bottom out. Only a few small cumulus clouds during the day. Strong northwest breeze with a high of 59.0 degrees. Thursday 22.8 degrees bottom out. Rapid warm up to 68.3 degrees. Our second highest so far this season. Friday 26.7 degrees bottom out.

Hello, I live in Montrose (81 years old) and just wanted to share this memory. In the mid 1940’s my mother would drive my sister and I to Silverton to visit grandparents who owned Snoke Bakery located in the far SW corner of the Grand Imperial.
