Gloria Sandell

Gloria had a heart as big as Kendall Mountain, the very peak she greeted each morning from her picture window in her Little Red House with the picket fence on Green Street here in Silverton. Gloria was destined to call Silverton home.

Charles “Mike” Egan

Mike was born in Glen Ridge NJ. The family moved several times before settling in St. Louis MO, where he earned the highest boy scout achievement award of Eagle Scout and went on to graduate from Parkway Central High School in 1972.

Robert David McCarty 1977-2023

Robert David McCarty of Ridgway and Silverton, Colorado born May 24, 1977, entered Heaven on May 11, 2023, at 45 years of age. Robert attended Silverton Public Elementary School and graduated from Ridgway High School. Out of high school Robert joined the Marines from 1995-2001.

Sama Chacon May 2023

A new Angel was needed in Heaven on May 17,2023 when God called Sama Chacon home. Sama was always seen around town with a smile and good conversation. Sama has a big heart and loved to cook. She was very well known for her tamales.

Danny Rae Chacon November 2022

An iconic figure of Silverton, Danny Rae Chacon passed away in his home on November 24, 2022. Danny was an amazing man who seriously knew everyone. Danny enjoyed going on his daily walks which consisted mostly to make his rounds and check in on all of his Silverton family.

Mrs. Jean Shearer 1942-2023

January 15, 2022, passed away peacefully at her home in Joshua, Texas, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Shearer was born Nelda Jeanette Bowles in Pilot Nob, Missouri, November 25, 1942, to Howard and Rose Lee Bowles. They lived in Missouri for a while then moved to Dove Creek, Colo.

Roberta “Berta” Mae (Downtain) Conway

Roberta “Berta” Mae (Downtain) Conway Roberta “Berta” Mae (Downtain) Conway was born June 11, 1934, and passed away November 29, 2022, in Durango, CO. She was 88 years old. Born in Durango, Berta’s parents were Florence “Flora” (Anesi) Downtain and Wilfred “Fats” Downtain.

Darryl Wayne Luther

Darryl Wayne Luther was born to Eugene and Linda Luther on August 11, 1962. He grew up in Silverton, Colorado where after high school he married and had two sons.

Jim MacDougall

Former Silverton resident Jim MacDougall died July 1 in Florida. He first came to town in the mid 1970s to visit family, and before long, he had made Silverton his home. He partnered with his brother Bill in buying and operating Triangle Service Station and Motel on Greene Street.

Patrick Michael Swonger “The Eureka Kid”

Born to Howard and Eileen Swonger in Springfield, Ohio, Patrick Michael Swonger arrived like an early Christmas present in December 1954 and graced the world with a lifetime fueled by music and adventure. There were seven Swonger siblings in the family – six boys and one girl.
