The First Train of the Season Starts Saturday May 3

The Durango Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad’s first daily steam train to Silverton starts Saturday, May 3. It departs the Durango train station at 8:15, and the second train departs at 9:00 am, arriving in Silverton at 11:45 am and 12:30 pm. According to durangotrain.

Red-tailed hawks are the most widespread raptor in North America, and in the summer, they are a common sight in the San Juans. One can often see them circling high above Silverton as they search for prey. Their large wings allow them to soar and glide with ease.
