25 Years Ago September 9, 2000 On Sep. 6 at 8:30 a.m., High Country Helicopter pilot Paul Herzberg was beginning his first flight, carrying sacks of rocks to fill in a mine portal directly above his pickup site, located two miles north of Gladstone.

140 Years Ago From September 5, 1885 edition of the (Silverton) Democrat-Herald: NEARLY 130 PROSTITUTES IN TOWN. It’s not a credit to the town, but a fact nevertheless, that nearly 130 prostitutes find a living here.

We are putting THE back into the name! The Silverton Standard and the Miner Newspaper have been going through the transition phase with new newspaper ownership and assets like phone numbers, domain, website, subscription software, and email addresses.

“I was actually building out a bump course at Purgatory Ski Area as a kid’s ski coach, and a Silverton parent told me about the job posting and encouraged me to apply, which I did, and then got my dream job.
