Minnie Gulch Hearing 2-1 Vote

At the Commissioner’s meeting on Wednesday, April 26th, the commissioners voted 2 to 1 to rescind being a co-appellant with San Juan Citizens Alliance’s appeal to the BLM. This appeal included restricting the proposed motorized singletrack at the end of Minnie Gulch.

Hummingbirds, Moose, and Bears, Oh My!

Spring in Silverton is always an exciting time. Last week the town received 8-10 inches of snow, causing surprise and grumbles for many locals. The hummingbirds are back, and with not a bloom in sight, please put your red feeders out to help the little guys.

Ruby- That my momma and dada take care of me. Wednesday- Umm, playing with a lot of unicorns. Lorenzo- My dad takes care of me and my mom. River- Umm, I don’t want to ask. Addison- I don’t know, I’m thinking about real helicopters.

Two Trains Coming for Open Day

The Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train will once again arrive this Saturday, May 6th, to kick off the Silverton summer season, with two trains coming!

25 years ago April 30, 1998 Superintendent Dan Salfisberg officially announced his retirement at the Silverton Board of Education meeting of April 21.

Way Back!

Poor Bounce, a brindle mongrel dog, waged his last terror on unoffending bicycle riders last Monday. He evidently didn’t know that Nat Ballon would seek revenge in the manner that he did. Bounce had caught Nat by a portion of the trousers and a slight jerk which brought the rider to the ground.

In Brief

Several Silverton kids, including Amelia Edwards, Rylan Jaramillo, Alida Mead, Ruby Copenhagen, and Ava Andrade, are dancing in Weehawken Dance’s Peter Pan. For the older kids, the shows are May 12-14th, and for the little ones, the show is May 11. All recitals are in Montrose.
