20 Years Ago July 25, 2003 One hundred and eighty-two runners registered for this year’s Kendall Mountain Run and Galen Burrell ran away with the win — although he didn’t come near breaking the old record on the slopes of Silverton’s landmark peak.

Sunday night a free fight on the “go as you please” or’er occurred within the sacred precincts of John Dalla’s beer hall of so vigorous a nature as to elicit the sincere admiration of all who were out of range.

It takes many people to get the weekly Silverton Standard newspaper out every Thursday, and the moment they get stuffed into the newspaper bins, labeled, stamped, mailed out, and show up in your email, the production cycle starts again.

Summer School Going Strong

The summer program is in full swing at the school. Led by a group of school staff and the summer director, Bryan Bruning, the students are busy with academic enrichment activities, outdoor pursuits, and creative projects.
