July 16, 2015 A 52-year-old Grand Junction woman died Thursday evening, July 9, in an ATV crash about a half mile north of Animas Forks, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. “We got the call around 7:30 p.m.,” said Undersheriff Steve Lowrence.

The Hardrock 100 Endurance Race just completed its 35th year in existence, and its 33rd year of actual races. Since 1992, the Hardrock 100 has started its 100-mile endurance race here in Silverton.

Wildfire smoke has been filling the air over Silverton and San Juan County due to the Gold Mountain Fire near Ouray, which is at only 2% containment as of press time, and the Ferris Fire near Dolores, which has been burning since June 27th.

Joel Zucker Memorial Scholarship Announces Record Amount

CDOT Project Announcement US 550 Red Mountain Pass road work to begin July 20

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner Rock & Co. are scheduled to begin road and tunnel repairs on US Highway 550 Red Mountain Pass beginning July 20. The work will take place at two locations just south of the Ouray community.
