On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the afternoon, the Silverton Medical Rescue team received an emergency alert through an SOS Satellite device for an unresponsive 61-year-old male in the backcountry on the Colorado Trail near Engineer Mountain.
