In the San Juans, moose give birth around the first of June. Over the past few weeks, I have counted a total of eight moose calves born in the Silverton region of the San Juans. Four are single calves, including three females and one male. Two sets of twins have also been born, one of them a brother and sister, and the other ones are both bulls.
