4th of July Blue Ribbon Fun Run

The Blue Ribbon was a great time thanks to the 184 runners, many volunteers, spectators, Silverton Parks Department, and Aravaipa. Silverton's own Jonah Kranker won the Blue Ribbon 5K with a time of 22m-41s. Congratulations Jonah!

Mule Deer

Mule deer are a common sight in the San Juans, so-named for their large (mule-like) ears. They are relatively indifferent to the presence of human activity, and they can often be spotted in towns and along roadways as well as in the remote wilderness.

20 Years Ago July 8, 2005 Friends and family of the crew killed in a Tri-State Care- flight crash last week, along with the Durango medical and rescue community in general, this week mourned the victims in a series of tributes and memorials in Durango.

We celebrated summer solstice with an incredible amount of tropical storm moisture which originated down in the Gulf of Mexico. Alberto then drifted west south of the border before visiting us way up here in the heart of the San Juans.
