30 Years Ago August 31, 1995 Silverton and vicinity were featured on television Sunday night, in one segment of a National Geographic program called “Violent Planet.” The segment focused on our avalanches rather than our scheduled gunfights.

Campaign to Raise Money for New Town Entry Signs Kicks Off

After many years of the Town of Silverton’s entry signs showing distress and falling apart literally, San Juan Development Association, in partnership with the Silverton Chamber of Commerce and San Juan County, started a fundraising campaign to redo and install new metal town entry signs.
